Research Visit to the Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy

Between 15 and 20 June 2025Dr Alfred Twardecki, head of the Ancient Monuments of the Black Sea project, paid a research visit to the “Vasile Pârvan” Institute of Archaeology of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest. During the meetings with Romanian colleagues, he delivered a lecture entitled Olbia after Romans. Latest Research Findings on Post-Roman Settlement, presenting the most recent results of research on the history of Olbia in Late Antiquity.

The visit had a consultative character and represented an important step in strengthening scholarly collaboration within the Ancient Monuments of the Black Sea project. The discussions established the main directions for future joint studies concerning the contacts between the Roman world and the barbarian cultures along the northern coast of the Black Sea.
